I think this might usually be translated into English as "the rainy season," or might it even be the Monsoon season?

Any ideas how the arid seasons in Swahili line up with the traditional temperate seasons?

When I lived in Kenya, we called this the "long rainy season." Both rainy seasons were equally rainy, but one was longer than the other, so more rain fell, which is why it seemed heavier.

Why don't you just say it means spring , Masika = spring
