An Introduction to el Glheþ Talossan 1: Info

    Next lesson

I hope to make an entire course out of this, based on the original course created by Ma la Mha (a.k.a. Hooligan) in 2009-10 for The Kingdom of Talossa

    So, what is Talossan?

Talossan is a constructed language created by R. Ben Madison for his new micronation, Talossa (Finnish for "in a house"), in the early 80s.

It is based on Romance languages, but it said to have been first spoken by north African Berbers. No confirmed link between Berbers and Talossan has yet been made or proposed. It draws from all over the Romance language spectrum, including Italian, Romanian, French, Catalan, Occitan and Spanish, and outside, too, from German, Finnish, and Icelandic.

It is pretty regular, but has some irregularities, too, as the mission of the language was to be as realistic as possible. We'll see these later on.

The most interesting about this language is that it has drawn a lot from Occitan, which makes it special. Hope it will be a good course!
