Hallo,

The tree 2.0 was announced a while ago and I quite often saw updates saying it's doing well as of 8 months ago, but since then I'm struggling to find information. Does anyone know an ETA (next month, next quarter year etc.) for the tree 2.0?

Also will I lose my gold tree status for Dutch? I'm not too fussed because I'll get it back again but curious if I'll keep my gouden uil.

Dank je wel,

Robin

Simius, a moderator/contributor for the course, comments on posts every now and then with an update - so they are working it :)

The latest I saw was five days ago: reddit.com/r/duolingo/comments/5xyv0s - "Hi there! The Dutch course will get an upgrade in the next few weeks, with a lot of new content (of all difficulty levels)."

I hope it comes out soon too. I've already learned most of what I can from the current course, which I love, so I can't wait to see what's new in Dutch 2.0

I was really high level when I finished my Dutch tree, I think it's to do with how many hours I get to study each day. My level 11 Norwegian is still in the 3rd catagory! Glad you get the time to do this quicker I'd love to myself

To answer your question about whether you'll lose your golden owl: yes.

If you haven't had another tree 2.0 for another course, this is basically how it works:

They add new content, be it words or entire skills. Because there are words you haven't done, those skills are not golden or even completed and so your tree is no longer finished. You have to learn all of the new content to get your golden owl back. [This is what happened with both German and Spanish for me].

Thanks, I see that as good news, Dutch was my main language on here so I'd like to focus on progressing it further I may put my other languages on pause for a while. (I don't get enough time in the evenings to do much more than 2 lessons per language)

You seem to like the languages of countries with red, white and blue flags ;)

Haha pure coincidence but I have noticed it too, and I actually researched it :) Here's what I found out (most of my research is regarding the French flag):

The colours red and white on a flag represent political parties, left wing and right wing, the French flag used to be white, which represents a monarchy. The political parties took over and "crushed" the oppression of a monarchy. Russia's flag is derived from the Dutch flag so I guess that's why it doesn't crush the white, because they probably didn't think of it.

(Back in pirate times, the Dutch flag was a powerful message at sea so when someone first sees your boat you want them to know which side your on)

Didn't look into Norwegian and American can be found easily enough, colours mean the same I think

I've also been wondering that for quite a while, as I wanted to finish it before I go to the Netherlands this May.

It all depends on when the Dutch team locks the tree and the Duolingo staff approves, for as far as I know. After that's done they'll probably start A-B testing, some will get 2.0, others will still have the old tree.

PS: "Wanneer is het de boom 2.0" sounds weird. Try: "Wanneer komt boom 2.0"

Dank je voor de verbetering :) (I think I said it weird in English too "for the tree 2.0")

So piecing these replies together some of us will get it in a few weeks some will wait a little longer, but I imagine not too long.
