I think we can use "verso di" with personal pronouns.

Io vado verso di lui. (But we can say "verso lui" as well, but "verso di lui" is more common)

Io vado verso di loro.

Io vengo verso di te.

Io vado verso un amico.

Io vado verso il mobile là in fondo.
