I can't get get any sound to answer questions.

Hi IrmaDavid, have you tried the suggestions in the Help page for sound yet? https://www.duolingo.com/help

To find that menu in the future, hover over your username where it appears in the blue bar at the top of the screen. A menu will drop down. On it is an option for Help.

Did you have audio previously? If you used to have it and don't have it any longer, it may be part of the new update Duolingo is currently implementing on a limited number of users. Losing audio is one of the issues that seems to go with the update; if it is part of the update, you may also experience some other issues, like the correct answer not being accepted or losing activity, which you can read about here: https://www.duolingo.com/comment/21181577

If your account isn't being updated, check the Help section (Usagiboy7 gave a detailed explanation). Either way, I hope you sort the issue out soon! Best of luck!

Frustrated that this is a continuing issue. Having to put off doing training because the first questions it asks is 'What do you hear?'. Having to waste my lingots to streak freeze.

If you hover over your username in the blue bar at the top of the screen. Click "Settings" on the menu that drops down. On it, you can turn off the microphone, which will keep you from getting those exercises. Be sure to click the Save button though. I turned of my mic a long time ago. It's only there to remind us to speak now and then. I got more practice just by saying everything out loud instead of waiting to be prompted.

Again the sound just stops. It is frustrating to have the new question and no sound so that you know that the last ten minutes have been a complete waste of time. Why does duolingo do this????
