I wonder why, in South Wales we say ' I'll be there now in a minute' ? I always imagined it had originated in Ffurf Cymraeg.

It may have. Both languages continue to evolve, and the current English dialect form may reflect an older Welsh form of words or may have developed independently due to other influences.

The Gwentian dialect of Welsh in south-east Wales was once far more widely spoken and distinct than it is now. It could be interesting to compare its older forms with English dialect forms in the area.
