Guys, let you not forget the article "the" in the English translation. Direct translation is so un-linguistic

If you put "boil the potatoes" and it was marked wrong, it is an error and needs reporting. But "boil potatoes" is not, in and of itself, incorrect English.

Boil potatoes for about 20 minutes or until soft, then drain. Add a drop of milk and some butter, plus salt and pepper to taste. Mash potatoes until smooth and creamy.

You now know how to make my grandparents' mash potato. Anyone fancy translating it into Swahili?

I don't cook, but I can try;

"Chemsha viazi kwa dakika 20 au hadi vilainike, kisha chuja (vichuje). Ongeza kiasi kidogo cha maziwa, siagi, chumvi na pilipili kuongeza ladha. (Endelea kuviponda) Viponde hadi viwe laini (vilainike)"

That's how I'd instruct someone the recipe.
