DuoLingo moves me to another language

I'm learning both Spanish and German. However, when I'm doing my Spanish and click on "Home" I am inadvertently moved into the German sector. I would like to control the length of time I spend on each language. Why does DuoLingo move me into German without my direction to do so? I would also like to add Russian, but this could further confuse matters.

This can happen when Duolingo starts synchronizing your courses with her servers, if ......
- you are logged in two different devices in different courses
- you're logged in with two different tabs.

It happens more:

After writing my comment, I discovered that at the top of the screen there is a small round icon with a flag design. If I click on it it will change from German to Spanish and back again. So, I've just solved my own problem. Now that I know how to navigate, I may try and add Russian. Not enough hours in the day to learn all the languages I'd like to know.
