"I am my mom's kid."

Translation:Tôi là con của mẹ tôi.

My answer was: "Tôi là đứa trẻ của mẹ tôi." I realise that this does not communicate that I am the offspring of my mother, but is this answer definitely wrong? Or is it just much less likely to be used?

It is understandable but the tonal marking on dua is wrong.

I don't understand the structure of that phrase

I am my mom’s kid.

“Tôi là con của mẹ tôi” Sometimes the “của” is omitted by natives.

Are you referring to why it isn’t “tôi là con của mẹ của tôi”.

In the hints for this "Đứa trẻ" is the hint for kid so 1. Dont get why marked wrong and 2. Don't get hơ tonal markers (above) are wrong. All looks good to me

Does this have the same idiomatic meaning as English? That is, if you say something like "I'm my mother's child", you are saying you are very similar to your mother.

You're not commenting on your genetic relationship, but your similarity in personality, habits, etc.
