That time when you have the same amount of people learning Welsh as the amount of people who actually speak it. :O
I'm not native to Wales, nor am I even from the UK, but Welsh is in my ancestry and my last name is Welsh, so I for one am learning as much Welsh as Duo will teach me just for fun. I would love to visit Wales someday and perhaps try out whatever I can learn with the locals. I'm also supplementing with the Teach Yourself book and CDs I found really cheap on amazon and also watching a bunch of YouTube videos. I've been having a lot of fun learning it and am very glad Duo had it as an option since I probably never would have thought to give it a try otherwise. It's actually been quite a breeze so far after a year of studying Russian, lol!
You should visit the area of Gwynedd if you want Welsh-speaking people about. Centre-north should also be decent for it. Avoid the very south and south east; very few speak it there.
Thanks for the tip! Yeah, I have heard before that few in the south speak Welsh well or at all.
A little caveat: just because someone signed up for a Duolingo Welsh account doesn't mean they're actively learning it....
