Both here and elsewhere I have found that if I hover over the word i'r the voice says something that sounds (please forgive the crude phonetic rendering) like 'pothnadair'. Is this some kind of grammatical term referring to 'r as an elided form of yr? How is it written in Welsh?

collnod is Welsh for "apostrophe" (literally, "loss mark").

What you're hearing is presumably collnod R i.e. "apostrophe R".

Thank you! I am sure this is the answer. I had misheard the initial consonant.
