I'd love to see super short books/stories in the Duolingo Store.

I've enjoyed working with Duolingo to learn Swedish and refresh my Russian. I'd love in time to see little simple short stories (like a children's book type story) to help solidify the flow of sentences and simple conversation. You could even buy them with the hard earned Lingots : )

Just a thought. M

Fantastic idea, excellent. Would love to be graded on translation of a short story! Doesn't have to be children's books either.

You can buy them real world from Ad Libris. Look up pixi bok. They are small cheap childrens books in Swedish and are awesome. They cost 1$ and can be bought in boxed sets. http://www.adlibris.com/se/sok?q=pixi

Thank you! I hve started to collect them... I love miniature books! I will look on Bokus tonight and see if I can get a few. The local bookstore Gros sells them individually... it is awesome. I will post the web address when I find it.

There would be a lot of problems about copyright though. They could do it but you would have to use real money instead of Lingots because lingots have no value outside of Duolingo. Of course, you could always buy them from somewhere specialising in foreign books. I have even seen some web sites allowing you to select your language and showing a list of children's books in that language.

Honestly, I wasn't expecting Duolingo to buy the rights to children's books, and I recognize that I can buy my own (in fact I already have : ) I just felt that it would really round out the experience to have the flow beyond a partial sentence or one sentence, and I enjoy the lingot system - earning the chance to do extra credit (I'm such the kindergarden teacher). I was pretty much dreaming that the the wonderful Duolingo writers could add one more thing to their plates and write a few letters or simple short stories for us to work on translating. I recognize it would take a long time to set up, but gosh it would be fun : )

Wow, it does seem a lot to expect the course volunteer contributors to be budding story tellers as well as language experts.

Ja, that's a good idea!

This is an excellent idea. Don't need to be from the course contributors. Could be from anyone that's completed the course (and maybe then approved by mods)

I love this idea. It takes some of the pressure off the people doing all the work.
