Why are the Android and iOS apps different?

This isn't a bug, it's just the way the apps are, but when will they be more similar? Android has had comments on lessons for the longest time, but they've yet to appear on iOS, even though there have been new features like the chat bots added. I'd love to see chats on Android and comments on iOS, since I use both OS's for Duolingo. Anyone know if this is perhaps in the works..?

Edit: also, is there a way to see when someone replies to your comments on Android? Someone answered a question I asked but I didn't know until I happened to log in on the browser and checked my notifications.

If you turn on your email notifications (in your settings), you'll get notified whichever platform you're using.

Thanks, I'll do that!

They have different development teams and IOS seems to be their "test plattform" (bigger team).

There are special A/B test groups for IOS., e.g Health/gems.

Look at your backend API stream and test groups:

I've seen other mentions about the A/B groups on the forums. What are they and how do they work?

Google is good for this sort of question: test

Wikipedia has a good article as well:
