Kumi is of Bantu origin, and is cognate with Xhosa shumi and Zulu ishumi.

Why did the hover translation say that "kumi" means "ten" and "twelve"?

fixed! Someone must have been trying to define 'kumi na mbili'. We have the option of 'multi-part hint' to define a phrase, but we have to click all the words that are part of the phrase, so probably the person just forgot to select 'na mbili' and only clicked on 'kumi'
