A little Problem...

[deactivated user]

    To fellow friends,

I bought a stink freeze and didn`t go on duolingo for 1 day. I was at a streak of 149 hoping to get to 150 after using the streak freeze. I used the streak freeze many times so I expected it to work this time. So this morning, I fired up my laptop and guess what? I lost my streak! I dont want to start all over so what can I do? Please suggest below.

    Sincerely, Andrew

As far as I know, there is a moderator who fixes streaks. I'll look up who it is, and I'll give you a link to his profile. Oh, and btw, I think your auto-correct corrected the word "streak" to "stink".

The system seems to work on a different time scale than we do; so maybe it thought you had allowed more than one day to lapse.

Andrew my advice is to not let the loss of a streak discourage you from continuing to use Duolingo to learn French (or any other available language).

Streaks are great, and I am impressed that you got to 149 days of streak but you didn't start this program to earn lingots or to run a streak.

Steaks are great, and they encourage us to keep at it, but before you came here, I am sure that you had no idea what a Duolingo Streak even was. Streaks are not why we use this program, and they have no real value in the real world. Buy me a cup of coffee with a streak, and I will believe that they are something more than just a means to encourage users to keep at it every day. And imo, that's what streaks are for. Please don't let the reverse be true and have your loss of a streak cause you to feel discouraged so much that you stop using Duolingo

If you are like me, you came here so that Duolingo could be an asset to you learning a language, and so even if you lost an essentially meaningless streak, you are still making progress with the language.

And that's why we are here. All of the other stuff is just toys..

I hope this helps. Cheers, matt

The streak freeze doesn't give you an extra day on your streak

zachthakur wasn't saying that they lost their streak because a streak freeze didn't work for them either, they where saying that a streak freeze doesn't add a day to your streak, but keeps it at what you left it for a day.

It glitched for me once and said I lost my streak, but I didn't actually loose it. I feel bad about how you lost so much effort!

Damn, that sucks! If that happened to me I think I would actually quit duolingo (I know it sounds stupid but it's my honest answer).

I actually don't trust the streak freeze as it did glitch when I was in my 20's. I now have a team of people who have access to my account just in case.

I hope you get it back. I'm sure they can do something!

Perhaps it would be best if Duolingo offered a double streak freeze, so that a person could get through a weekend. It would be okay to charge a little more for a backup streak freeze.
