Why does Swahili have a borrowed word for carrot, but not for avocado? Avocados are from the Americas, so they had to be introduced to Africa at some point in the past

Possibly because Swahili is quite a mixed language; it takes from Arabic, English, German and even Portuguese due to trading and colonisation. Some words are directly derived from other languages and sometimes words are just generated randomly through stories and word-of-mouth epidemics.
