Due to malaria, dengue fever and other insect borne deseases being endemic in East African countries, mosquito nets are widely used.

They are made of a fine mesh fabric and typically hung from the ceiling or bed posts, and draped to the bottom.  

Mosquito nets are usually treated with an insecticide which greatly improves effectiveness.
