Người đàn ông kia was marked wrong for me here.... so are "kia" and đó" always interchangeable?
Agree! That: đó, kia.
Yeah "kia" is still marked wrong for some reason. Still unsure if they're interchangeable or not.
ấy = that in Northern Vietnamese
Chau phi hay Phi chau
Why force the use of "đang" here?
if đang is not there, it would be "that man lives in Africa"
A clean and clear translation should be: Ông/anh đó đang ở Phi châu. No need to use regional or local translation.
I would understand "đang ở" to be temporarily there, not be living there.
Too long translation. Vietnamese is not machine translated, it is much easy and elegant than that:
It should be simple like this:
Ông ấy (Ông ta) đang sống ở châu Phi (Phi Châu).
does chau mean continent?
