Another left-over isolated mutated form
In the final lesson of "Past Tense 3" I have been offered a three-picture "select the translation of party" with options "Cinio", "Barti" and "Papur"
I liked having the mutated forms as options. It made me stop and think about mutation, which is foreign to me as an English-speaker.
The problem is that a mutated word out of context can look the same as an unmutated word:
- arddwr - garddwr (gardener), arddwr (ploughman)
- gan - gan (with/by/from) or can (can).
- gof - cof (memory) or gof (smith/blacksmith).
- do - to (roof) or do (yes)
and so on...
