I have around 200 lingots, and I literally have no clue what to do with them. There are so few things to buy in the store, and I've recently bought the times practice (totally worth it), but besides that, I haven't found much use for them. Any thing that i'm missing?

I have 2600. They aren't useful, sorry.

We'll reportedly be getting some new cosmetics in the next few months, though.

I would say giving them away is the best thing to do, its nice and it solves your problem :D

I also have around 200 now, I give them away to people who I think deserve them, just now I gave a couple to a person who suggested to learn languages by playing games. Then you can use them to do an exam to test your progress.

Go to the Lingot Store and buy the "progress quiz" with lingots. It'll test you and measure your language-learning progress. Here's more information on it: https://www.duolingo.com/comment/20240268 :)

Is it supposed to be under the "practice" category? B/C its not, under the practice category, there is just "timed practice".

No I don´t think so, just go to Lingot Store and look for Spanish Progress Quiz. Buena suerte! It costs 25 lingots and takes about 20 min, and you can not cheat!:)

We should each have our own 'Duo owl' to dress up. We should use lingots to buy stuff for them, so they are all unique.

    Anyone who agrees, comment.

PS: No mean comments please. Stop wasting your time if you were planning to post one.

Lingots are a bit of a distraction, really. They're a good way of helping to turn casual learners into committed learners, but once you've done enough work on Duolingo to have lingots to spare, they lose their purpose.

Buy a streak freeze, the bonus skills, and a test every now and then if you're interested, and then forget about lingots and use the rest of the site.

They're the currency, don't be surprised if they release new items to be bought using them in the near future. With lingots you can currently buy "bonus skills" which are a plus if you want to get the hang of a language. You can buy quizzes which are used somewhat as "final exams" to give you a better approximation of your knowledge on a certain language, regarding the skills learned here on Duolingo. These are the main use for them so far, I'd say.

There is someone who can make you a new profile pic with a duo owl. Just search Lingot_Shop, I believe, and you can place an order. :-)
