"Let us come to dance" should have been accepted.

Why not "we should..."? In other examples "(subj) should do" and "let (subj) do" have been interchangeable

"Let us come to play/dance," is terrible English. 07062020

The English is unidiomatic. It should be "Let us come and play".

  • But is this an imperative, asking for permission (for us to come and play)?
  • Or is it a hortative, making a suggestion (that we come and play)?

Or could it be either?
