What Language Do You Want To Learn That Isn't On Here?

Duolingo has a lot of languages for English speakers to learn, but there are so many that aren't on here. We have extremely uncommon languages like Esperanto and Klingon is almost here. This is great if you want to learn an uncommon language, but Chinese, Arabic, and Bengali are all common, and are not on here.

When I initially came on Duolingo, I wanted to learn either Hindi, Icelandic, or Thai. Duolingo is working on Hindi, but who knows how much longer until other languages. In the long run though, not having those languages gave me the chance to try Swahili which I am loving so far.

But, what language do you all want to see here?

It would help with understanding latin languages. I also want latin. Some other websites have it (Like memorise: https://www.memrise.com/courses/english/latin/ and a few others. It isn't 100 percent free but you can do quite a bit of learning without going pro)

Hello, you have left a positive comment for lingala. If you support the proposal of a Lingala course (on the basis of the French language) https://www.duolingo.com/comment/22649727, you will have to click in favour of the proposal of Sion60 in the bottom left of his proposal on ^ near the number that mentions the number of supporters. If you have clicked, the number becomes green. For lingala (on the basis of english), you have to click here https://www.duolingo.com/comment/17030005 (in the bottom left of Kxng.Deo's proposal - it is another page!). If you really like a lingala course, best would be to support both.

    Definitely Sanskrit...

Sanskrit is a standardised dialect of Old Indo-Aryan, having originated in the 2nd millennium BCE as Vedic Sanskrit and tracing its linguistic ancestry back to Proto-Indo-Iranian and Proto-Indo-European.[8] As one of the oldest Indo-European languages for which substantial written documentation exists, Sanskrit holds a prominent position in Indo-European studies.[9] The body of Sanskrit literature encompasses a rich tradition of poetry and drama as well as scientific, technical, philosophical and religious texts. The compositions of Sanskrit were orally transmitted for much of its early history by methods of memorization of exceptional complexity, rigor, and fidelity.[10][11] Thereafter, variants and derivatives of the Brahmi script came to be used.

I would really want to learn Sanskrit because of how important it is to my religion. I couldn't put all the languages I'd want to learn on this list though.

Archaic English? I guess you mean Old English, or more correctly: Anglo-Saxon. By the way, later Middle English isn't too hard. You just need to learn a bit of vocabulary like "gramercy" (great thanks) and "hight" (to be called).

I'll be unique and say Latin and Finnish.

(Note: Chinese and Arabic have technical issues, but Duolingo is working on resolving them - which is why we have Japanese now - and they'll be out within a year or two. Bengali isn't on here because, while it has a lot of speakers, I'm guessing 90% of people wouldn't know what it is, much less be learning it. The people who make the Esperanto and Klingon courses don't speak Chinese/Arabic/Bengali anyway, so please leave them out of this. If it weren't for the Esperanto course, I wouldn't have any interest in languages, and I'm guessing this is the case for literally a million other people.)

~1.5 million speakers and growing. Also a recognized minority language in Bosnia & Herzegovina, Israel, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Sweden and Ukraine. A lot of speakers are older but there's a huge revival movement. Plenty of native speakers and people learning it on the net to speak with if you choose to learn it. With Duo, it'll grow even more. ^_^

I'm on the Latin train but I look forward to Japanese. It could be similar to the structure of the Russian and Greek courses in that it tries to teach you the "alphabet" first. So, the first section would probably be Hiragana, Katakana, and some basic kanji. I also look forward to the Korean course when it's done as well. As far as Europe goes Breton, Finnish, and Catalan would be nice. It would give them a chance to get some traction outside of their countries or in Breton's case "region".

I'm really considering learning Maltese but there aren't that many sources online for free. It would be great to see that on Duolingo.
