Dutch Tree 2.0
Is there any news or update on the Dutch Tree 2.0? Or a latest estimate on when it might be ready for A/B testing by?
The Dutch Tree 2.0 is finished and is ready to be submitted for A/B testing. However, there is a bug that prevents us from doing that and the developers are not responding to any of our emails and bug reports. So the ball is their court. No idea how long it will take. The Norwegian team had to wait 3 months, we're about one month in.
...aaaand things have stopped moving.
There is a delay on launching new course ab tests as we focus on making Duolingo more stable and faster."
Is it just me or is Duolingo not even slow in the first place?
And why are they wasting time on things like achievements and annoying Duo spam on the app version if that's the case?
I just want to learn Dutch :(
Has there been any movement or news on this at all since or is it still on pause by the developers?
No news to report, sorry. I'll post here when they tell me anything. Hopefully some resources have been freed up with the release of the Japanese course, but that's all speculation.
Nice! Looking forward to trying out the second version of the tree. Thanks to the whole team for their work!
It sounds like the devs are very isolated from the people who work on the courses, not the best business strategy (I've seen similar posts in the past). If the communication improves I'd be more than happy to sign up to the monthly ad-free version (even though I use PC). I'm aware it's not your fault.
Yeah, communication between the staff and the volunteers has never been great. There are only one or two developers actively working on the Incubator, while there are hundreds of contributors working on many different languages, each with their own issues and questions. It would be great if we were a bit higher on the priority list, but this is how it's been for years.
On a lighter note, I just heard that they are looking to hire a new incubator dev! So there's hope for improvement.
There's so many languages in the incubator, and duo has barely even touched Asian languages, I can see how only a few devs would struggle to keep up with the demand. Thanks for keeping us updated though, I can't wait for the new tree to be released!
Great to hear that the tree is finished! Too bad that it's held up for such a reason, but ah well; we will just have to butter ourselves with patience, as we say in Norway. I really look forward to your updated tree!
Thanks for the update. That's great news. Hopefully they'll sort it out sooner rather than later. I can't wait to see what's in the new tree.
I think it's abandoned, it's been 2 years. Plus they removed the sticky for the tree 2.0.
They deleted their post and they said that almost a year ago with no updates. I hope it isn't abandoned, it just feels like it.
The team members have been giving updates on the forum. I read just a few weeks ago that the finish line is near.
I've only done the first skill. I think I'll wait until 2.0 to do the whole course.
Why wait? Your progress will carry over to the new tree. No time like the present!
I found out I was put on the new tree and it wiped out most of my progress. Units that I had completed are now totally undone. Most of my tree is completely reset. I'm pretty peeved and discouraged. I basically have to start the course from scratch despite having heaps of it unlocked...I'm set back at least a week or two from this >:(
Hi there, have a look at some of the more recent posts about the new tree. You'll find that your progress has not actually been wiped out, since Duolingo will know which words you've already learned. Instead, you just need to catch up with the new content. Although it looks like you have to start a lot of the skills from scratch, you won't actually have to re-do all the lessons. After just one or two lessons, the skill is likely to jump back to its golden status. It will go faster than you think, I promise!
