"I bank in the town."
Translation:Dw i'n bancio yn y dref.
What is the difference between dre and dref? Is it different dialects or are they used for grammatical reasons?
The noun 'tref' = town, this is often 'tre' in spoken Welsh and equally often the final 'f' is left out when it is written.
The same is true of the mutated form 'Dref' and 'Dre' which both derive from 'tref' being a feminine noun and thus 'the town' is either 'Y dref' or 'Y dre'
