French quotes from Easter candies

EDIT: Added three more quotes on the top. Also, someone pointed out these seemed more like translations. The company is Italian and probably obtained these quotes in Italian first (the brand is Bacio). Don't be afraid to correct them.

For Easter we are eating these white chocolate nut candies made by an Italian company. They have parchment paper slips with quotes in four different languages (Italian, English, Spanish, French). Here are the French versions of the quotes I've collected, and the provided English equivalent:

  • Il est beau de lire tes lettres, encore plus doux de t'entendre! (Your letters are wonderful, but your voice is sweeter!) ~ Plinio il Giovane

  • Les grandes choses se disent en silence. (The greatest things are said in silence) ~ Grazia Deledda

  • Reprends l'ami en secret et lou-le en public. (Scold your friend in secret and praise him to all) ~ Leonardo da Vinci

  • Nous confions à l'ami notre cœur et tout ce qu'il contient. (We will entrust our heart and all it contains to a friend) ~ Aelredo di Rivaulx

  • L'amitié te fait sentir comme une seule chose avec ton ami. (Friendship makes you feel as one with your friend) ~ Katherine Mansfield

  • Lumière imaginée arde et me consume. (The glimpsed light I imagined consumes me) ~ Vittorio Colonna

  • Sublime amour, en cet instant, parle à ton cœur! (Let love, sublime love, at this moment speak to your heart) ~ Giuseppe Verdi

  • Que ce soit seulement par amour: pour aucune autre raison. (Let it be for nought except for love's sake only) ~ Elizabeth Browning

  • Les amis sûrs se révèlent dans les situations incertaines. (A friend in need is a friend indeed) ~ Baltasar Gracián

These French sentences look a bit weird... like translations actually.

I would retranslate them from English as:

  • We will entrust our heart and all it contains to a friend = à un ami, nous confions notre coeur et tout ce qu'il contient.

  • Friendship makes you feel as one with your friend = En amitié, tu ne fais qu'un avec ton ami.

  • The glimpsed light I imagined consumes me = La lumière entrevue que j'ai imaginée me consume.

  • Let love, sublime love, at this moment speak to your heart = Que l'amour, l'amour sublime, parle à ton coeur à cet instant.

  • Let it be for nought except for love's sake only = Que ce ne soit rien, si ce n'est au nom de l'amour.

  • A friend in need is a friend indeed = Un ami dans la peine est toujours un ami.

Merci. These are very nice.

What is "Lumière imaginée arde"? Did you mispell arde? If not, what does it mean?

I didn't misspell it, the Italian and Spanish translations also have "arde". I think it's an adjective modifying "light", so the first part of the French sentence literally says "(I) imagined (a) glimpse (of) light." So "arde" here is a glimpse, probably an archaic word (you may notice some of the English translations use older words and grammar structures that aren't used as commonly today, like "nought" in the second to last quote).
