G'day all,

Due to the controversy surrounding the "fluency" approximation indicator, I was wondering whether anyone knew of any good proficiency/fluency tests that could perhaps take its place?

Thanks.

The Swedex. Fortunately, it's offered outside of Sweden as well, so if you're truly interested you can take a look and see if there's an exam center anywhere around you.

Otherwise I doubt anything online can give you a true approximation of where you're at, since it can't measure things like if you can hold a conversation in Swedish, how "good" your accent is/if you can be understood while speaking, etc.

Many language schools advertising on the web offer free tests to place you in the correct initial class. These tests are based on the CEFR tests and give a grading based on that standard. Just Google language schools for {your language}.

Aha I see, it's just that I tried a couple of those earlier and I felt they didn't test a broad enough range of things. I'll give some more of those a shot then.

I've noticed that many people don't think that the fluency indicator is very good so I was wondering whether there are any decent fluency tests elsewhere that could give a better indication of fluency level.
