i is one word, i'n is two -- a contraction of i and yn.

You'll almost always need yn when making a sentence in the present tense, e.g. dw i'n cysgu, rwyt ti'n darllen, mae e'n hapus, dyn ni'n rhedeg, mae Dylan yn canu.

An exception are the two words eisiau (want) and angen (need), which do not use yn -- di i eisiau tost, mae Dylan angen llyfr.
