Help!

I posted a discussion yesterday asking if I would be fluent in Italian after the whole tree was completed. I got a lot of reply saying that Duolingo was not made for speaking fluent. This got me very confused because the program has the speaking microphone part. Also, in the video Duolingo made it says that you will be fluent.

Is it possible to be fluent with Duolingo?

Could you share that video (ant indicate the moment in the video this statement is made)?

Hence you already obtained your answer, it seems.

Duolingo is for you to practice the language, learn vocab, and also learn some grammar. But I think it is up to you to get fluent. The more you practice (speaking, writing, etc.) the more fluent your language would be. Hope this helps answer your statement.

Duolingo only teaches you the basics (not the basics of the basics), nothing else.

With it, you will become able to understand some of the common words and phrases spoken in that language, understand how some grammar rules work, and get to know how a word is spelled.

Duolingo does have spelling exercises with the microfone, but it doesn't actually make you fluent, fluency is measured by how well you are able to speak in that language, making yourself understandable and not having to overthink what you want to say.

What's bad about Duolingo's system is that it makes you learn the language by translating some phrases from your native language to the target language and viceversa, superimposing overthinking.

So yeah, Duolingo isn't really here to help you in your fluency, but it does help you to learn the basics.

No, as it only teaches about 60% of the language.
