How To: Check Which Website Version You Have.
As you probably already know, a new, faster version of Duolingo is being rolled out. Here is how to find out if you're already on it or not.
The easiest way to check is to look at the top bar. If you still have a button labeled "Activity", you are still on the old website. If that button is not there, you're on the new version.
- The red bar shows the activity button and is, therefore, the old version.
- The blue bar does not have the activity button and therefore the new version.
NOTE: The colour of the bar is not relevant, what matters is the presence (or absence) of the "Activity" tab.
This can be affected by A/B Tests! To be absolutely certain, use Method 2!
Some accounts never had the "Activity" tab even on the old website, this was due to an A/B test. If this is the case for you, you'll need to use this option to determine if you have the new version.
First, click the "Home" button in the navigation bar (This step is important!)
Now click the notification bell. Notice where the notification box appears
The OLD version looks like this: The NEW version looks like:
Everyone should be getting the new version "within the next several weeks".

Pretty cool! I'm surprised that there were no lingots donated when I arrived. I'm noticing that more often. When people put effort into informing us of these kinds of things and creating this sort of guide, they used to get more lingots in recognition of their services. What I've donated isn't much, but, I hope it is a small clue that I appreciate what you've put together here. Thanks! ^_^
What I've donated isn't much
On the contrary! You've been more than generous! Thank you!
I appreciate the work you do as a moderator every day! (I'd like to extend that to all mods and contributors.)
You all do wonderful work here and it really shows!
Don't worry, I saw the post after your comment, I won't give you all the credit. ;p I know how much you donated and my statement remains true!
But you did start the lingot-giving trend on this post, it just needed a little push.
I'm glad there are people like you out there keeping this site safe and sustainable! :)
If you didn't have the tab before and have a fairly new account, you've probably always had the new version.
If you didn't have one before but have an old account, then you were likely in an A/B test. I'm not sure if they have all "Activity" related A/B tests turned off now that Activity is gone. If they have been ended, I suppose everyone on the old site will now have the "Activity" tab.
Would you want me to link this post there, or should I repost option 2 in the comment? (Reposting would take up a lot of space from the images, but if that's okay with you, I don't mind doing it.)
I suggest the following with those new smaller images. ;)
Skills' page in the OLD version are organized like this:
Skills' page in the NEW version are organized like:
This is just the info I have from karint, the one who created the recent announcement. This is what she suggested.
Yep, I know: I'm the one who asked her about "How To Determine Which Website Version One Has.". ;)
But she said "indication" which I understand as "hint", not "proof/confirmation".
I'm not sure if they have all "Activity" related A/B tests turned off now that Activity is gone.
No, they didn't. Hence my remark. ;)
I've updated the post with an option that works for those people.
I knew it was you who asked, however, I assumed she would have addressed that if that were still the case. But you are right, there are still accounts with no "Activity" tab on the old version. Option 2 should be fool proof.
No block button?
Since the block button was only to prohibit the other user to write on your activity stream, with the disappearance of the Activity Stream, I guess said "block" button logically disappeared too and that it's what starboystellan is referring to.
What do you mean by "boring profiles"?
"boring" user's page, I guess.
