I remember my Mam-gu used to use other words for shed - not just the obvious "sied" ....like cwt/cut /penty? These still in use?

cwt is common for a shed, kennel or similar. It is another accepted answer for 'shed'.

penty is in the dictionary, but doesn't seem as widely used. Perhaps it has a common root with a 'pent roof', as is often used on a lean-to. Some words of this sort are often limited to particular dialects.

Diolch....my Mam-gu was from Dyffryn Rheidol and there used to have all sorts of odd words....but dying sadly as most youth leaving for work elsewhere (I digress)

Point is......it could be dialect as you say :)........... Cisys = Sweets / Gais = Garage........a few words I remember from the valleys east of Aberystwyth

Interesting. The only way to keep the dialects alive is to use them - use it every time you go back that way!
