I've gotten through the whole Swedish course and have listened to Norwegian music extensively for years now. Even though Icelandic is pretty tough I'm hoping the Swedish and the Norwegian that I know can help me out vocabulary-wise. For the tough grammar I can always reference the French, Latin and Russian that I've studied for things like gender, cases and declensions, but I'm not entirely sure if I want to start. It's definitely my favourite of the Nordic languages.

If you decide to learn Icelandic, I would recommend that you listen to a traditional Icelandic song covered by Kaleo called "Vor í Vaglaskógi." It's very beautiful and I hope you'll enjoy it since you enjoy listening to Norwegian music. :)

Try Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and Faroese before you try Icelandic. Then you get it step by step to understand more Icelandic from the beginning.

Good luck. I've tried to learn Icelandic many times and gave up quickly because I couldn't find a website that works for me. If you find a good place to learn it, I'd like to know because I'm visiting there in possibly a couple of years. It's great that you want to learn it.
