It depends on the what your plans are. I learned Esperanto only because it can be a tool for learning more languages. The more languages you learn, the easier it will get to learn even more languages.

No, much better to learn a real language =)

It's useful if you actually seek others who speak it, likely online unless you there are Esperanto clubs or organizations near you in real life. Otherwise no, it's not useful. But that goes for any language.

A few years ago I lived in a totally illegal boarding house (basically a mentally unstable woman had rented out rooms in her home, three of which were just plywood cubes). She would invite anyone who had previously lived there back for big sunday dinners every few weeks, and once a guy came to dinner who had learned esperanto specifically because there is a Code Of Esperanto that says all learners and speakers of Esperanto should open their homes to eachother for a minimum of three weeks in order to spread the knowledge of Esperanto. He learned Esperanto, just so he could couch surf.

They guy who told me this did not believe in shoes, so I don't know if it's true, but it's worth looking into.

We all live there. Esperanto is the language for world citizens. Are you from Earth?
