Musical language exchange! (share your favorite foreign songs!)

Hi: I came up with this idea to share songs with each other in different languages! I am at the point where I can understand and appreciate Italian music. I don't really know any German music, or any other language for that matter.

Share a link to your favorite song(s) in any language, either your native language or in one you're learning! I'll do the same:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sU8V0kGW3T4 this is my favorite Italian song, its called "Una Poesia Anche Per te"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EgbVPUGXhQ this is another, called "Grande Amore."

I'd love to hear what you suggest!!!

German (my native tongue): Mark Forster (pop/singer-songwriter): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlD-LO3ogFM Bakkushan (rock): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGKljs9ssNM , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BMD1UTIHrk I'm actually not really listening to german speaking music (shame on me) but maybe some of you will have fun with it ^^

Japanese (probably my favourite language when it comes to music): Kenshi Yonezu (singer/songwriter) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dx_fKPBPYUI ONE OK ROCK (they sing japanese and english) (rock): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRLLWNIqb8w , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTdql6Yoce8

English: Just too many, so I'm only suggesting a few (without all the links because that would take way too much time). Note: these bands are mostly rockbands: Young Guns, Don Broco, Paramore, PVRIS, Vinyl Theatre, All Time Low. Other genres: Ruelle, Seafret, Tim McMorris, Amber Run

Maybe you find something for you there. Happy listening/learning!

If you like good goodbye, I can also recommend these two (already unofficial lyric videos so there should not be a "not available" problem): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXCaDkRPYJs

Oh I'm sorry about that. Maybe this link works (it's an unofficial lyrics video so maybe the quality is not the best) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpIbwffpB3w As for the second one: "Böse Mädchen feiern besser" means something like "bad girls party/celebrate better" :)

Hmm strange they are all from the official youtube channels so it can not be because of copyright but anyway, for all who might have the same problem I list the songnames down below so you can look it up yourself and maybe find a video that is available: German: Mark Forster - Wir sind gross, Bakkushan - Böse Mädchen feiern besser / Nur die Nacht

Japanese: Kenshi Yonezu - Loser, ONE OK ROCK - We are / Good Goodbye

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQ-w9CutSMc

He is called The King (המלך) of Mizrahi music. I believe that he is also quite popular in the Arab world.

Yes, it's a very popular song with beautiful lyrics. I wish you could've understood them.
It was acutely just been declared in the video as the winner that took the 1st place.
He is one of the selected few that even non-Mizrachi have much respect for (they usually can't stand this kind of music haha).

The name of the song means "The flower in my garden" (הפרח בגני).

I'll just translate the chorus so you would've some idea what he's saying:

את עולמי עם שחר את לי כל היום
את עולמי בלילה את החלום
את בדמי ברוחי ולבבי
את הניחוח המתוק הפרח בגני.

You're my world at dawn you're my all day
You're my world at night you're the dream
You're in my blood, my spirit, and my heart
You're the sweet scent the flower in my garden

Maybe some other time I'll do a full translation.

A few Italian songs (I recommend checking the lyrics and their translations):

  • Brunori Sas - Come stai ("How are you")
  • Fabrizio De André - La ballata dell'amor cieco ("The ballad of blind love")
  • Fabrizio De André - Cantico dei drogati ("Canticle of the junkies", yeah, it's about addiction)
  • Max Gazzè - La vita com'è ("Life as it is", great breakup song)
  • Max Gazzè - Sotto casa ("Out front", written after being approached by two Jehovah's witnesses)
  • Baustelle - Nessuno ("Nobody", about a man who doesn't believe in anything anymore, except the woman he loves)

I'm really in love with Yuval Dayan. This is the song that I've been listening to all week: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCVl3mhEk7g

And this is one of the few ones in French that I like (I really need to know more French music). It's called Notre Amour Boit la Tasse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxewBPNDN2o

It's funny because these aren't the type of music that I usually listen to, but is good to listen to different things sometimes.
