Quote of the Day
Hi I'm Dasha and I would like to make a discussion that will make a persons day. Every day I will put an inspirational quote up for anyone who is in need of some encouragement! Enjoy!
Where did everyone go I feel as if this discussion was as vibrant as spring flowers and then they all wilted! Please KEEP POSTING!!!!:)
Quote of the Day: 4-24-17 "The one who falls and gets back up is much stronger than the one who never falls."
If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart. —Nelson Mandela.
I have an idea: how about you do a new inspirational quote in a different language each day, and that way you can make a new post each day, and people can translate it into the language they're learning.
"Heroes aren’t always the ones who win. They’re the ones who lose, sometimes. But they keep fighting, they keep coming back. They don’t give up. That’s what makes them heroes."
-Clary Fray/Clarissa Fairchild, a character in The Mortal Instruments/The Infernal Devices serieses by Cassandra Clare
Quote of the day: 4-25-17 "You never realize how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have."
By the way you guys are free to post your own quotes or even Bible Verses I just wanted to create something that people could go to for encouragement. You know?
A trick that everyone abhors, In little girls is slamming doors, A wealthy banker's little daughter, Who lived at palace green, bayswater, By name of Rebbeca Offendort, Was given to this furious sport,
She would deliberately go, And slam the door like billy-o, To make her uncle Jacob start, She was not really bad at heart, Just a little rude and wild, She was an aggravating child,
It happened that there was a marble bust, Of Abraham sitting just, Above the door this little lamb, Had carefully prepared to slam, And it came, It knocked her flat, It laid her out, she looked like that.
Here is an interesting poem that I memorized for school. Wondering if anyone else found any meaning to it.
It is rather awkward until you have read it a few times. Is it very old perhaps?
or there is this one! I have so many favorite quotes! Great topic!
“Courage is not a man with a gun in his hand. It's knowing you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do.” -Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird
"If you're going to be a bear, be a grizzly bear, not a pooh bear." - my wonderful neighbor ;)
Bonus Quote of the Day: 4-25-17
Excellence is a habit, you are what you work hard at.
Quote of the Day: 4-26-17 Make someone smile whenever you can, you never know what a difference it will make.
I also like this one " I’ve seen how you can’t learn anything when you’re trying to look like the smartest person in the room.” -Barbara Kingsolver, The Poisonwood Bible (excellent book btw)
yes it is! I recommend the reading the book, lots of great quotes and a fairly quick read!
"When life changes to be harder, change yourself to be stronger. What hurts you today, makes you stronger tomorrow."
Leave a little sparkle wherever you go! Stars shine bright, so do you; your a star! AND FOR RHINO LOVERS: Unicorns are real, they're just big, grey and we call them rhinos!
Bonus Quote: 4-26-17
"Sometimes Me think, 'What is a friend?' and then me say, 'Friend is someone to share the last cookie with."
- Cookie Monster
Quote of the Day: 4-27-17 No beauty shines brighter than that of a good heart!
My senior yearbook quote was "you can never expect to cross the ocean until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore." -Christopher Columbus
I don't confuse greatness with perfection. To be great anyhow is…the higher achievement. Lois McMaster Bujold
Anytime you're afraid to try something new...just remember, amateurs built the ark, professionals built the titanic. David Drake
But... the Titanic was structurally sound... it was an issue with the crew not spotting the iceberg soon enough...
The reports seem mixed some say they would have survived if they hit it dead on instead of dragging along the side. But if it pleases you remember the Titanic had a professional crew the Ark was sailed by amateurs
"The more often we see the things around us - even the beautiful and wonderful things - the more they become invisible to us. That is why we often take for granted the beauty of this world: the flowers, the trees, the birds, the clouds - even those we love. Because we see things so often, we see them less and less." ~ Joseph B. Wirthlin
The use of force is always an answer to problems...[It] isn't an attractive answer, though. David Drake, The Voyage
Progress isn't made by early risers. It's made by lazy men trying to find easier ways to do something. Heinlein
Some prices are just too high, no matter how much you may want the prize. The one thing you can't trade for your heart's desire is your heart. Lois McMaster Bujold, Memory (Vorkosigan Saga, #10)
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift... Which is why we call it the present.
"You cry and you scream and you stomp your feet and you shout. You say, ‘You know what? I’m giving up, I don’t care.’ And then you go to bed and you wake up and it’s a brand new day, and you pick yourself back up again." ~ Nicole Scherzinger
Quote of the Day: 4-28-17
Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.
-Winnie the Pooh
A lot of people think that gifts are like presents that we might get on our birthday or Christmas if you celebrate, but if you really think about it everything around you is gift whether it's clean water, a nice warm bed, or even a younger sibling. We should always be thankful for what we have because there will always be another person that will have less than you. Let this message be an eye opener and a reminder to always be thankful for what you have because there are others who don't have as much as you. Always be kind and thankful, because it makes a big difference. Also next time you use water use it wisely because there are others who don't have clean water and because of that they die from either thirst or toxins while you keep the water on as you brush your teeth.
