You can use any of them although sometimes It depends on the country, for instance the word "morado" is more popular in countries such as Ecuador, Colombia, Perú generally in south America; nevertheless in some places in Spain is common to use "Púrpura". Having said that, "morado", "púrpura", and "violeta" are the same colour; however people who are a little "fussy" use them according to the color-scheme. Morado= dark purple, Púrpura= light purple, violeta= a little lighter than púrpura. I hope I've helped you, and sorry for my broken English.

In high school in Denver, we were taught to use 'violeta' for purple. How often is that used?

Fix "morado" ; "Púrpura" ( don't forget the " tilde " )

Here in Colombia, we actually don't mind, We're a very flexible country in these kind of things, however I'd recommend you to say "morado", which is way more used than púrpura.
