  5. Why did you want to learn Rom…

Why did you want to learn Romanian?

I am low-key studying Romanian because both Bucky Barnes and his actor, Sebastian Stan, speak Romanian. What about you? Why did you choose to learn Romanian?

Ah, surprisingly, the reason why I decided to learn Romanian was because of Sebastian Stan. Plus, after hearing the language I am quite attracted to it. But, the actor was my main inspiration. ^ ^

It is a beautiful language, I agree. I really want to be able to say 'plum' in Romanian. :)

Of all words, plum. ^_^

I am learning Romanian because my parents are from there. They never taught me the language, and they told me not to learn it because there is no use for it in the United States. Sebastian Stan is one of the reasons I wanted to learn Romanian. Ever since I started learning Romanian, I dont regret not learning it because it's such a beautiful language and it's now my favorite language of all time!

I moved to Romania a few months ago to teach English here, and I still need to improve my Romanian. Plus I love the language.

I speak both Spanish and Portuguese as my native languages and I'm a big fan of Romance and Slavic languages myself.. so I've already learnt almost 4 romance languages, my last one was Catalan, now I've decided to give Romanian a try.. :)

Two words: Carla's Dreams, but I'm waiting for the mobile version.

Romanian sounds really good and I feel attracted to it :) also I think Romania is such a beautiful country, very underrated in my opinion. The other reason is I met a Romanian girl and it gives me a motivation to become a fluent speaker :)

Dude, I totally agree with you. Such a beautiful language and country but very underrated. I also met a Romanian girl from church and even though my parents are Romanian I didn't speak it, so I wanted to learn it to speak it to her but this was like 2 years ago.

I had already studied all of the other major romance languages, and have always been intrigued with Romanian. It being available on Duolingo was really what compelled me to get started studying it.

Having studied Russian in college and more recently Turkish on Duolingo, it is interesting to see how all of the languages I'm familiar with relate to Romanian (spontaneously identifying Turkish cognates is satisfying).

I also think Romania is a misunderstood country by some and a totally neglected country by most. That intrigues me. I was in Romania for a few weeks some years back, and for the most part it was a really nice and beautiful country.

Plus: Romanian sounds cool.

I live in Romania, probably ought to learn Romanian

First time I visited Romania in 1991. I hope to improve my Romanian with this Duolingo course. I have knowledges in French, Italian and Spanish. But for me the Romanian language is by far the most difficult Latin language. Pascani

My wife is Moldovan, I have visited Moldova 3 times in the past 2 years, and every time I go, the better I speak Romanian, the more fun I have.

It has encouraged me to continue my grind here on Duolingo and to keep practicing with my beautiful wife ^_^

Honestly? Because I thought that's what Dracula speaks... yep. I really really enjoy vampires and getting the chance to learn to speak the same language as the Dragon would be awesome.

i just think its interesting i don't really have a very good reason to learn it apart from some very petty ones like a hand full of youtube videos and some history related stuff on wikipedia

I heard Sebastian speak the language and completely fell in love. Plus, it's sounds absolutely beautiful. It's so incredibly different from my language, which means I have no base at all in it--that makes it even more intriguing, and a very enjoyable challenge for me. :)

I've taken interest in the entire romance language branch of the language tree. Spanish is my most sought after as far as the pursuit of proficiency goes, but I am exploring the entire branch, the differences/similarities, and appreciating the result of my established foundation in on language allowing me to better understand its language relatives, including Romanian :)

I love Sebastian Stan and I will always have a soft spot for Bucky Barnes. I watched a 31-minute interview of Sebastian Stan speaking in Romanian and I fell deeply in love. There are also those times where a fan spoke to him in Romanian and his face lit up like the fan just made his day. He's the only actor I know who speaks Romanian.

Don't be ashamed or embarrassed that an actor inspired you to learn another language. As Sebastian once said at Wizard World, "Finally people are speaking Romanian, otherwise we'll never get on the map."

    Language of Alexandra Stan <3

I am "traveling to Romania" for a Social Studies project about Europe!

My father was Romanian. He was adamant that "in this house" we speak English, and he would not teach me to speak the language. Now, I want to know more about the home of my ancestors and learning the language seems appropriate.
