Your favorite books
What are some of your favorite books in your native language? Please up vote to join :) ( you don't really haft to though, but it would be nice :)
I'm excluding all the old literary works of Persian language, like Hafez sonnets, because I can't only name one or two of them!
قصه های مجید
The Tales of Madjid by Houshang Moradi Kermani was the first heavy book I ever read, and I'm in love with it! It's a collection of short stories, centered around an orphan called Majid, but the book is the opposite of sad, it's quite funny, and it was meant to be that way.
قلندر و قلعه
The Mendicant And The Fort by Yahyaa Yasrebi, which tells the story of "The Meteorite of Religion" Yahya Sohravardi, is quite touching and emotional, I love it.
I'll be here all night if I keep listing books, so, I'll cut it here!
Side note: If your comment is engaging and well-established (established as if it comes with a reason, like "I was wondering what genre people most mention to represent their languages"), it has less chances of being genuinely downvoted. Also consider taking part yourself, in the main post, to make it longer and more meaningful. There are trolls, however, that downvote anything they see, they're not to be taken seriously.
As for the matter of removal, moderators are the people who remove stuff that's not related to languages and closely-related subjects, or violates the guidelines. Think before posting, the post shouldn't be offensive in any way, and ask "Is it language related, or can it go back on languages?" if it's a "yes" then post without fear. However downvoted, moderators won't remove your post. (You could have made a mistake, of course. You can see the popular tab for most successful post)
TL;DR There's no need to encourage people to upvote the discussion if:
- The post is related to languages or closely-related subjects
- It doesn't violate the guidelines
Well, my favorite book was translated into English from Japanese so I guess I can't count that...
My favorite native language (English) book is probably Of Dice and Men: The Story of Dungeons & Dragons and the People who Play it by David M. Ewalt. It's very interesting if you're into D&D at all.
My favorite books are:
East of Eden
Song of Solomon
The Great Gatsby
Madame Bovary (originally French, so I don't know if this counts...)
The Wall and the Wing
The Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man
(I love your profile picture, by the way!)
Ooh, The Great Gatsby! I have to get around to reading that sometime! Right now I'm reading The Idiot. My favorite book has probably got to be... The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie. It's a murder mystery by Alan Bradley. It's really good.
Sounds really neat! My younger sister is reading it, and she really likes it. I love a good plot. ;D
