Completed French Tree.
I decided a week or so ago to complete the French tree so that I could send students here to enjoy some extra work and language learning fun.
Unfortunately, I'm not convinced that I can, in good conscience, do that because there are so many errors in the translations. Could the person/people in charge of the translations please contact me so that we can discuss this. I've encountered rather too many translations that have been just incorrect, so I need to know what the software is doing, and why.
No point sending learners here if they're just going to learn incorrect language patterns and translations, after al..
Thanks in advance.
p.s. I've been bilingual for 30+ years now, so I knew I could complete the course fairly quickly. I appreciate the work that's gone into this, but there are lots of errors. I'd be willing to help, but only if that's going to be appreciated.
Yes! Thank you, I have gotten so many answers wrong that I was pretty sure were right!
Thanks Mandy for your efforts. There is a moderator from Paris, Sitesurf, whom you may want to contact. She is incredible in her efforts to improve the French site and may be able to advise you.
I just completed the tree too, and will make a post about it tomorrow. I thought I had learnt a lot, although I hope I haven't learnt loads of bad/mis-translations. Did you post comments in the discussions where there were errors?
Hello there. In most cases, I did post comments, but in some, the keyboard skills were so automatic, that by the time I realised that DL had declared something "wrong", it was already too late to react to it. It's not all bad, and I do appreciate the work that has gone into this site, but I do also believe that it's important to reflect honestly on the experience.
I've asked those providing the translations to make themselves know, and I may be able to help, or help hem to find someone else who is able. We'll see. .
Thanks, but it really wasn't much of an effort for me... just a case of finding the time to actually go through the lessons and do them.... it's only taken a week, I think. At least now if I do recommend the site to anyone, I'll know exactly which lessons and vocab they're covering t any one time,, and how to support them through that.
