German viva gone wrong.
In the beginning of last semester I signed up for an A1 level German course at my University. Today I had my final viva and had a written exam a day ago. The guy who was examining was asking questions and conversing and I mostly at there silent. What I find is that I have a weak vocabulary and my grammar is also bad. I have not been using Duo to learn German, only my lectures here. I don't know how to get better. I have practically 0 speaking and hearing practice in German. Could you good people of Duo help me with some good book (I wasn't referring any till this time)? Also I would like to watch some T.V shows or videos of the same, since I have seen a lot of people learn and get good from it.
Sorry if this post is unrelated to this forum. Don't really know any other good place. Thanks.
I recommend youtube German with Ania and German with Jenny, Jenny has a lot of exercises in her blog they are long but very good. Good luck.

Look for a conversation exchange partner. You meet in person or online, you teach your language, they teach you theirs. At first it'll be very, very difficult, but it gets better. Be willing to make lots of mistakes and have the patience to ask them to repeat stuff. The important thing is to be understood, not matter what.
That maybe be one way. But where I am from you won't find any German speaker around.
