It is interesting how different languages take different approaches for naming the playing of musical instruments: In Spanish and Portuguese musical instruments are "touched", in Italian they are "sounded", and in Romanian they are "sung".
when i was playing jazz in my youth, i never said i play THE tenor sax. i said i play tenor sax.
Isn't cânt sing and not play?
Yes, it is, but as in English, you say "I play the piano/trumpet/guitar etc." and in Romanian you say this "Eu cânt la pian/trompetă/chiatră etc." so here you translate the verb "play" as "cânta".
