Fun fact! We use duvhök both as a cover-all name for all goshawks (e.g. Henst's goshawk = Madagaskarduvhök), but also for the northern goshawk specifically.

They're marvelous animals, I am quite fond of them! :)

A type of hawk. Actually, in Old English, it meant "goose-hawk" (since it was claimed that they preyed on geese - I wonder if the same logic is behind this "dove-hawk" in Swedish?), but it became fossilized in this form, so the gos part didn't evolve into goose.

By the way, it's pronounced "goz-hawk", the "sh" isn't like the "sh" in "sheep". It would be an easy mistake to make if you've never heard the word spoken.
