What is the first language you have ever learned on Duo??
What is your first language you took a course for on Duolingo??
Mine is Spanish. Whats yours?
Yes I am (: I would definitly recommend taking a Swedish course! I know everyone has different opinions so it might be a different story for others but I find it quite easy and very fun to learn! I would also like to travel to Sweden one day so it will be useful. Plus another advantage is that Norwegian, Danish, and Swedish are quite similar so once you learn one it should be easier to learn the others (: By the way sorry for my bad English haha cx My keyboard seems to hate me right now and I don't know why
I would. Portuguese is a charming language. There is a Portuguese language poem by a Brazilian poet named Olavo Bilac which describes the Portuguese language as a series of contradictory comparisons, at the same time beauty and vulgarity, splendor and death, and other such comparisons.
Portuguese and Welsh are the two languages I have discovered through Duo that I have enjoyed the most, and I am surprised by both.
I picked Portuguese because when I started 990 days ago, Duo only had 5 courses available for English speakers and I had already studied three. So my choice was between Portuguese and Italian and I went with Portuguese first.
After a while, I felt an urge to study Welsh. I don't know why, I just did. I started the tree and almost quit but somewhere around level 7, I really started enjoying it. Welsh is very straightforward and simple in both grammar and spelling but still very foreign to the English speaker.
I haven't taken any outside Duolingo. The Duolingo course took me 3 months, as did the Italian, Esperanto, and Greek courses. The German and French courses took me a little longer as the tree was updated for each of these courses when I reached the halfway point in each course. Hungarian has taken me almost a year as the other courses have needed to take precedence, due to my job. Now I am back to Hungarian and am almost finished the tree! When I finish the Hungarian tree, it will be my 12th tree (I've also done the Spanish, French, Italian, German, Esperanto, Greek, and Portuguese trees as well as the reverse trees for Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese.)
I Believe that i came to Duolingo firstly, for Russian? or Spanish?, Not sure. I created my account on December 15th, 2015.
I ended up doing the Spanish tree 217 days ago, quit it and did the Esperanto tree, getting all the way past the last checkpoint (i had maybe 10 skills left?) and Quitting in favor of Spanish again, Which i once again quit, and re-did Esperanto, quit, started Russian, German & Danish, Quit, Started Vietnamese, i reset the tree once but I've stuck with it for awhile and i picked up Spanish again. Korean snuck it's way into the mix recently also.
I've realized that i seem to remember words and grammar easier when i have more than one language. Of course, i don't do them all at the same time. :)
