Fukuzawa Yukichi (1835-19019) was Japanese author, educator, enlightenment, writer, teacher, founder which is Keio university and publisher who was the most influential man outside government service in Japan of the Meiji Restoration. He was born in Osaka, the son of a samurai of the Nakatsu Clan. He introduced Western ideas in order to increase Japanese strength and independence through his writings such as “Seiyo jijo”. In 1868 he established the Keio gijyuku, that is, Keio university. Also he published many writings including “ Gakumon no susume” ( Encouragement of learning) (1872) and “ Bunmeiron no gairyaku” ( an outline of a Theory of Civilization) (1875). In addition he has many famous quotations. Especially in “ Gakumon no susume” it is said “ heaven does not create one man above or below another man. Any existing distinction between the wise and the stupid, between the rich and the poor, comes down to a matter of education.” In this sentence heaven means creating human , that is , god. There is similar famous quotation. In short “ On all men are created equal on.”
