How do you say dates in Norwegian?

For example, how would you say: Today is May the 4th / the 4th of May, 2017.

I dag er det fjerde mai, tjue-sytten / to tusen og sytten?

What about years like 1964 or 1901? How do you say the names of the decades and centuries, like the 90s and the 1900s / the 20th century?

Tusen takk!

Today is May the 4th - I dag er det fjerde mai, to tusen og sytten. (or more commonly, tjue-sytten)

1964 - nitten-sekstifire 1901 - nitten-null-en

90s - nittitallet (syttitallet, åttitallet, etc..)

1900s - nittenhundretallet (syttenhundretallet, attenhundretallet, etc..)

basically just combine words. It's almost easier to get it right than to get it wrong, I'd say. But first millenium+century, then decade+year.
