Help with this weird translation
Can someone please help me translate 'thats lit fam' (I know the 'that is' part, just not the others). I would like to know if there was any way I can shorten words in Esperanto like in english (family to fam)
If I correctly understand the context of it, I think a concise way to translate the intended meaning would be "Tio belas, familio." In Esperanto, we can't just truncate words as is done in English. About the only way one could shorten it would be "tio belas, famili'", though I think "Tio belas, domanoj" would also work.
Can you first translate "thats lit fam" in to English? Does anyone on this Airplane speak jive? :)
I Googled it to help decipher it. No offense intended, but it appears to be Millenial-speak.
It's too difficult to translate without any context, because I don't exactly know what you're trying to say by "lit" except for maybe cool (mojosa).
And you can't just shorten words unfortunately. Some people have actually shortened "saluton" to just "sal'," and sal' means salt xD
Yes what the sentence means is 'thats awesome'. I am happy everyone is helping me even though they have no idea what they are even translating haha
