The lack of audio makes it more difficult to learn
I find it more difficult to learn Hebrew on Duolingo than for example Russian. Most other courses have audio for all the words. When you tap a word in the mobile app, you can hear them.
Snc Hbrw dsnt wrt vwls, the lack of audio makes it so much more difficult than necessary. I love to learn this language, but I'm really struggling to make sense. Sadly, Google Translate also doesn't offer Hebrew audio.
Is there any site where I can copy/paste a Hewbrew word and hear the audio? Text-to-speech for Hebrew?
Ok, I already found the Memrise course, https://www.memrise.com/course/1031737/hebrew-duolingo/1/garden/learn/
That's good, but it really is a major flaw in the Duolingo course. And it is not like the Hebrew course has no audio at all, just for new words it is missing, which is very strange.
It's not strange so much as it is a product of the course having actual human speakers instead of a text-to-speech engine, which apparently are not very good for Hebrew. (The only place I've come across Hebrew TTS is in Clozemaster, and I have to say it's not great. It often mixes את the feminine second person singular pronoun with את the direct definite object marker, and it doesn't always differentiate between male and female versions of verbs like רוצה or שותה.)
Having real people means you get more accurate audio but less of it; not all the sentences are recorded, and moreover the individual words don't have sound.
This is also true of Ukrainian, Esperanto and Irish, which all use voice actors, not TTS.
