Japanese Incubator Update!!!
Here is the Japanese incubator page with the update!
We've got a lot of questions regarding the reason progress of Japanese from English course is still 67%. Because of "something new" we added to this course, the automatic progress calculation is not accurate. The progress is actually 99%! We're sorry for the confusion.
Your feedback matters
Even if we say it's 99% ready, it doesn't mean the course will be perfect at the launch time. As with always the case with beta courses, there will be problems in acceptable translations, hints, audio, etc. We'll welcome your feedback especially as "My answer should have been accepted" report that can be sent from "Report a problem" feature available at grading time.
The Japanese team currently is putting a lot of efforts in finalizing the tree. The course will launch into beta phase on May 18. Please be patient until we support the course on all platforms. Because of "something new", we'll need an extra effort to support the course on different platforms. Thank you for understanding and look forward to the Japanese course!
Anyone else super excited!?! :-)
Courses released into beta on the website aren't usually released into other platforms (iOS, Android, Windows, etc) for a while (following the release)
Yes, but Web-only availability would be the norm - not worthy of comment.
Neither would iOS and web only.
I am assuming that the message (from a staff member) is trying to warn us to expect less than we normally would have (on day one of beta). So possibly iOS only, with Androd and web to follow. They might be racing to get them ready, and this message is the news leaking that non-iOS users might have to wait. I wish the message was more specific, so we don't have to play guessing games, but there you go.
Edit: There might also be an old site / new site spilt. With only users of the new site having access, given that changes seem to be required. This would be another possibility worthy of comment.
Not sure if this is totally right, but it might have been easier for them to program the software to alpha test on iOS devices?
I think it'll be released on all platforms at once
Did you read the text I quoted? They are telling you something.
Web-only availability would be the norm - not worthy of comment. That would include iOS and web, so I am assuming that the message (from a staff member no less) is trying to warn us to expect less than we normally would have (on day one). Otherwise why the warning?
The amount of time really depends on the course, so I don't really have a good answer sorry! :-)
