How do we know it is "from the farm" rather than "to the farm"?

Generally, whether something is to, from or at is indicated by the verb. I'm not sure, but I suspect you'd use niliyaleta to say you took them to the farm.

That's correct, Ku-chukua = to take, or to take from. To bring (to) would be Ku-letea.
