Translation:What are they trying to fix?

May 19, 2017

can it not be "what are they trying to overcome"

Overcome is listed as a definition for "khắc phục"

I would translate this sentence with "fix", but thinking of it carefully, I see there is no problem with "overcome". It was a mistake.

When I saw the word "to fix" I thought first of sửa (chửa), which to me has a more physical, mechanical usage of "to fix" (even if "to repair" is a more specific, less instinctual definition). So thinking of "khắc phục" meaning overcome makes it more distinct for me.

Dear creators of this course, thank you so very, very, very much for (almost) never fixing a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g. Three years later, and "overcome" is still not accepted. There are so many issues with this course, it is just sad :(

I agree "overcome" is more correct
