Unwanted Email -- Can't Unsubscribe Due To Error
I've been getting unwanted emails every week I don't use DuoLingo. The email says: "Score more XP before the week is up! There are only a few hours left."
When I click the unsubscribe link, it sends me to an error page that says: "We had an issue finding your account." and then "Please go to your Account Settings to unsubscribe from emails."
When I go to my account settings page, I'm unsubscribed to all emails except for "Somebody friends me."
I want to stop receiving these emails. If I can't stop them, I'm going to start reporting them in gmail as spam, which will harm DuoLingo because it's going to make it more likely that other DuoLingo emails get marked as spam. I love DuoLingo and I don't want to do this, but I'm also angry that I'm receiving these emails and not being given the option to unsubscribe.
Any suggestions? I'd love for DuoLingo staff to step in and fix this problem without me having to do any more work, after all, they're the ones who are sending me unsolicited emails without allowing me to unsubscribe.
Try to use this link, but replace
email@example.com with your real email before. It helped me.
p.s. Sorry for the picture, the parser has eaten some symbols.
That is wonderful! Anyone can unsubscribe from this notification for anyone if it knows email. I have just checked that.
Thanks, I did it, and it gave me a notification that it worked. We'll see if it causes the emails to stop. How in the world did you ever discover that link, by the way?
My question though, why is that setting not showing up in my Notifications section of my settings? I see a section for "Daily Reminders" but nothing like this.
Having to type in an esoteric link manually seems like an extremely poor solution, and I'd ideally like them to fix this for everyone.
How in the world did you ever discover that link, by the way?
I took this link inside one of the letters that they sent me. The unsubscribe link does not work because there is a bug in the server-side code.
My question though, why is that setting not showing up in my Notifications section of my settings?
This question is not for me. Many necessary things are missing in the settings.
